Lorazepam is the drug. Ativan is the brand.

It’s a benzodiazepine, and it sits in the middle of the class in terms of how long it lasts. Longer than alprazolam, shorter than clonazepam. It’s used for anxiety, and it turns up frequently in hospitals and emergency settings, partly because it can be given by injection.
