Who publishes Shrinktionary

Shrinktionary is published by shrinkMD Publishing and is part of The Shrink Network, a family of mental health properties founded by Shariq Refai, MD, MBA, FAPA, a board certified psychiatrist. The network includes sites that explain concepts, medications, anxiety, depression, and patterns, plus shrinkMD, the clinical practice where care actually happens. When an entry links to one of these sites, it's linking to a related property in the same network. We point this out so the relationship is never hidden.

How we're funded

Shrinktionary is funded by The Shrink Network. We don't run third-party advertising on the site, and we don't sell sponsored entries or paid placements. No company can pay to be defined a certain way, to be added, or to be left out.

No pharmaceutical funding

We don't accept funding, sponsorship, or in-kind support from pharmaceutical or medical device companies. When an entry describes a class of medication, that description is based on regulatory and clinical sources like the FDA and the peer-reviewed literature, not on anything provided by a manufacturer. We name drug classes for education and don't recommend specific products.

Editorial independence

Decisions about what to include, how to define it, and which sources to cite are editorial, made on the evidence by the people who write and review the content. The business side of the network doesn't override those decisions. For medication comparisons and prescribing-level detail, we intentionally hand off to PsychiatryRx rather than try to own that ground here, because staying in our lane keeps the network honest and useful.

We don't use affiliate links and we don't earn referral fees when you click through to another site, inside the network or outside it. Links exist because they're useful, not because they pay. If that ever changes, we'll disclose it here first.

Why we tell you this

On a health site, the money behind the words is part of the evidence. Funding shapes what gets covered and how, whether anyone admits it or not, so the honest move is to put ours in plain view and let you weigh it. We'd rather you trust us because you can see how we operate than because we asked you to.
